This series of posts is a long time coming. Welcome to my life in Iraq! This is the building I live in. It is "home", for all intents and purposes. It isn't the best place to live, but it is by far not the worst place.

Luckily, I have a room to myself. And each room has a bathroom. There are a lot of places where that isn't the case, so I consider myself very lucky.

Here is my room. The shawl on the end of my bed is from my church in NC. They sent me a "prayer shawl" and it is very nice. I inherited a TV in my room as well. It has about twelve channels of AFN (Armed Forces Network). Again, I am very lucky.

I know I said that we weren't allowed to take pictures in the dining facility, but I am a rebel and am doing it anyway. At least taking pictures of my tray. This is my typical breakfast. Oatmeal with cinnamon and brown sugar and half a grapefruit. Pretty dull, but a tasty way to start the day.
So that is how I start my day. Next up...work! :)

Are relatives eligible to win? Now I have an idea of what it looks like where you are. Thanks for the glimpse - love you!
I'm a dork...I forgot to write an Easter memory... :)
I love going to Easter sunrise service. Years ago we would go to a service in PA - it was always outside, always cold, always wet grass - but I clearly remember the lame singing along to the old pump organ they'd wheel out onto the grass! Then we'd go inside for breakfast. Scrambled eggs never tasted so good. Nice memories.
I'm REALLY a dork - I forgot my name this time!
Thank you for taking the time (and pics) to show us what it is like Over There. Most of us have no idea about the living conditions, weather, or the daily routine that you all have.
Stay safe!
