TWD: Rugelach

Wow!  It feels like it was just Tuesday!  This weeks TWD recipe was chosen by Piggy from Piggy's Cooking Journal (you can find the recipe there) and she chose Rugelach.  I was pretty excited about this recipe.  I had never heard of it until I saw Ina Garten make some on her show (for Jeffery, of course).  It looked so good.  This recipe was different that that one, but still tasty.

The recipe calls for jam and all I had was strawberry, so I used that.  I omitted the currents and used carob chips in place of the chocolate chips.  I only made half the recipe and it was perfect.  I need to perfect my rolling technique (don't the picture fool you...for as many that looked pretty, I had just as many look crazy!).  But overall this was an easy, but messy, recipe.  I can see how this would be a great cookie for the holidays.

You can no longer join TWD, but be sure to check out everyone's blogs as they tackle Rugelach this week!  Next week we tackle Kuglehopf...do you know what that is?

We'll just pretend that the rest looked as pretty, right? Definitely a holiday cookie.

Strawberry is my favorite. I am sure it's even better with chocolate!!

I gotta stop looking at everyone's rugelach, I keep wanting to go just have one more of mine each time. They're so little, but I'm sure all the butter and cream cheese packs a big punch!
Yours look great!

I'm a fellow TWD baker, and I was thinking that it would be nice if we all could chip in and get Laurie some small token/gift for all the work she does. Would you be willing to contribute? If I can get enough people, it would only be about $1 per person. No pressure :-) Let me know! bethberg12@yahoo.com

Those cookies look good - great job. I agree they were messy to make - definitely not a quick bake kind of cookie.

I own the book too, and yours look perfect... just like the picture! Nice job. I never knew what that recipe was either, but then my mom sat next to me and said 'um we have to do those'. Well, the things I must do for my family :)
